ArtReview recently published their Power 100 list 2012 of the 100 most influential figures in the world of art and this year, for the first time since the list began, has been topped by a woman. Her name is Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev and she made her way to the top in the role of artistic director of Documenta (13). ArtReview's reason for picking Christov-Bakargiev was because of "her influential and globally ambitious" Documenta exhibition which recently extended to feature in Afghanistan, Kabul, Banff, Canada and Egypt. It said the Documenta has "allowed artists to speak for themselves through their work, and to make their own sets of rules."
